Pictoblog: My little hill

I thought adding a little visual context to this journey would be a good place to start. My last move took me to a world of skyscrapers and taxi cabs and every cuisine imaginable. I loved that so. I love this too, but it is a little different:

The first two pictures look out and down from the top of the hill. The picture doesn't do the angle of the hill justice; it may not look too severe, but four or five trips down and back up will convince you that it is plenty steep. The third picture is the view of the house from the highway below. It is difficult to see, but there are four houses visible on the hill, and I am in the one third from the left.

If you find yourself in need of inspiration for anything just imagine you're sitting in your living room and looking out at this.

I love watching the colors of the sky change as the sun sets and the little hill goes to sleep.

Sub-blog: #pnwproblems

My best friend Blythe and I have come up with the term "pnw problems" for difficult situations that only seem to be present in the Pacific Northwest. Here is #1:

I am surrounded by beautiful hills that are so inviting and all I want to do is climb to the top of every one of them. The hill pictured below is right behind the neighbors house. What's the problem? I can't get to any of these glorious hills because people's houses are in the way and I'd have to go through their property to get to the hills! Not fun. #pnwproblems

The beginning... Again.

As I find myself, yet again, separated from the majority of my friends and relations, on a new adventure, in a new state and beginning a new chapter, it is now so very natural for me to sit down and prepare to share this adventure, this season, with any and all who choose to be a part of it. Writing for me is nothing new; however writing for the general public is something I only cautiously entered a few years ago when I first set off down my own path. As I have continued down that road finding homes across the country and around the globe, it has been both a joy and a comfort to have companions in the form of readers. It seems that when I don't have some one or two or three to share my life with, a small community of followers can still make me feel as connected as we humans generally like to be.

For those who have been around for previous journeys, this one is going to be a bit of a change; for once I won't feel like the only one getting used to something new. I will do my very best to keep this blog engaging and interesting, and instead of infrequent large "catch up" posts, I will have more short glimpses for you of what it is I am up to. Before and after decorating posts, new recipe posts, book critique posts and more close to my heart, weekly  (I hope) posts of what God has been teaching me, what He has revealed through His Word and what I hope will be of use to you too.

The inspiration for this blog is Matthew 6:28-30, "So why do you worry about your clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you?" In whatever I do and wherever I go and whatever hardships I may encounter, I want to consider the lilies. I want to remind myself daily that my God is a good dad and that he will care for me. And as I do that, I might find a few things along the way that I could have missed if I were to only worry about my life instead of live every moment I have if you choose to follow along with me, you'll see some of those things too.

Blessings.
